Best Websites - Entry 3: Twitch

The honor of third entry to our Best Websites series would Twitch, the largest live streaming platform to date.


Yet again, the site's magic lies in its simplicity and ease of use. The first thing on the page is the search function, in which you can search for a game title that is being streamed live or a given streamers user name. Just below it is a list of featured streamers selected by the site itself.

And just under the featured tab is a list of the most popular games by total people watching; the games that any given person attempting to find a stream will most likely be looking for. From here you call select the clearly labeled "See all live Games >>" to keep searching for potential streams by viewers watched, if the search function gives too much direct control.

At first glance this site may appear to be entirely about horse medicine and medical option for your equine companions, but the second you attempt to clink any of the links you are immediately dragging into a completely separate domain that vaguely resembles the link title. The showing of "Pay with your credit card" on the very front page without any real information is also very suspicious.

Best Websites - Entry 2: Soundcloud

Soundcloud has been blessed to be in our second entry to the Best Websites series. Just like last entry's Google, Soundcloud, a sort of Youtube for audio, excels due to its sheer simplicity and accessibility. Simply search for a song or artist and you will be given said song followed by a plethora of covers and remixes of the given song or various songs and remixes made by said artist. Simply searching for a term such as "Elvis" returns a variety of songs that are either sung by Elvis himself or simply contain the term "Elvis" in the song title. The filters on the side bar on the left make specifying what songs you're looking for very intuitive; "I want to listen to the track 'Plastic Beach', not the entire album 'Plastic Beach', so I'll search 'Plastic Beach' and press the 'Tracks' filter on the top left." Best Websites - Entry 1: Google

Google  has the luxury of being our first entry to the Best Websites series. Google's main strength comes from its balance of simplicity with digestible information. Simply search for a given word and you are displayed with a generated box of its description and links to websites which also define the single word. In general, searching for individual words or phrases on Google yield definitions while searching for questions or implied questions bring up answers, explanations and tutorials to said questions. Because the search engine assumes you understand these basics concepts, searching on Google is extreamly intuitive and finding answers to questions that you know have answers is a breeze.
